On 17 April Zeb will join the Chiaroscuro Quartet at Wigmore Hall in London for a special performance of Haydn’s Seven Last Words. Originally created for Cádiz Cathedral’s Good Friday service in 1786 the Seven Last Words occupies the Chiaroscuro Quartet’s musical meditation for the week before Easter. Haydn’s work evokes the shattering drama and humbling magnitude of Christ’s crucifixion.
In Haydn’s original, each movement was separated by one of seven short sermons. In this performance, Zeb reads Andrew Motion’s Sacred Conversations, seven poems written expressly to match the beauty of Haydn’s music.
