At the heart of the album is Psalms of Doubt and Wonderment, with texts by acclaimed American poet and lyricist Charles Anthony Silvestri. Written in collaboration with Jansson, the texts evoke the language of the Psalms while exploring a journey from doubt and fear towards hope, joy and wonder.
The album marks an important milestone for the VOCES8 Scholars Ensemble as their first full-length recording, showcasing Jansson’s richly expressive music through the unusual combination of voices and saxophone quartet.
The release is followed by three days of performances in Sweden in October:
Helsingborg on Friday 16 October at 18:00
Lund Cathedral on Saturday 17 October at 12:00, followed by a workshop with Ragnar Bohlin at 14:00
Sundbyberg Church, Stockholm on Sunday 18 October at 16:00.
