On 23 May 2026, the London Symphony Chorus celebrates its 60th anniversary with a special 60th concert featuring Duruflé’s Requiem for chorus, organ and chamber orchestra, alongside two new commissions: Hour of Stars by Grace-Evangeline Mason and Jonathan Dove’s orchestration of The Passing of the Year. Conducted by Mariana Rosas, with mezzo-soprano Marta Fontanals-Simmons, organist Benjamin Frost, and the London Mozart Players, this concert celebrates the Chorus’s rich history of inspiring performances, international collaborations, and commissioning new works since 1966.
London Symphony Chorus was the commissioner of the original version of The Passing of the Year for chorus and piano. It continues to be performed around the world.
