Jason Max Ferdinand Singers 5* reviews at Edinburgh International Festival

Jason Max Ferdinand

At the start of August the Jason Max Ferdinand Singers made a sensational impact at this year’s Edinburgh International Festival, earning enthusiastic critical praise across three very different appearances. Their Festival debut came in the opening-night concert of Wynton Marsalis’s All Rise, where The Times praised the “spine-shuddering impact” of their combined voices with the Edinburgh Festival Chorus. They then brought their vibrant artistry to First Night at The Hub, before a packed Queen’s Hall recital showcasing spirituals, folk songs and hymns. Critics praised their bold, impassioned sound, exceptional musicianship and infectious energy, with the Scotsman calling it “A joyous and life-affirming selection of what they do best”.

Their remarkable Edinburgh appearances confirmed the Jason Max Ferdinand Singers as one of the Festival’s outstanding vocal discoveries.
