Jason Max Ferdinand new work featured on Tenebrae new album

Jason Max Ferdinand

Jason Max Ferdinand’s new choral work Journey is the opening track on Tenebrae’s new album The Journey, released by Signum Classics on 18 September.

Commissioned as part of Tenebrae’s 25th anniversary celebrations, Journey sets Ferdinand’s own text and is dedicated “to Nigel Short and Tenebrae, for the many years of inspiration”. Tenebrae describes the work as having a comforting, hymn-like quality, reflecting the album’s wider themes of journeys, transition and reflection.

Conducted by Nigel Short, the album also features new commissions by Joby Talbot and Joanna Marsh alongside music by Eric Whitacre, John Tavener, Max Richter, James MacMillan and others. Ferdinand’s Journey opens the recording and runs for just over six minutes.

The album is available now on Spotify.
