Vocal ensemble APOLLO5 performed an all-English programme, When Music Sounds, at the Three Choirs Festival on Wednesday 29th July at St Nicholas Church.
The highlight of the concert was the world premiere of The Road Not Taken by Lucy Walker, one of Britain’s foremost emerging compositional voices, where she set Robert Frost’s famous poem. The programme also featured works by composers including William Byrd, Thomas Tallis, Gerald Finzi, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Benjamin Britten all the way to Seal’s Kiss from A Rose (See full programme here).
Later the same day, APOLLO5 travelled to Dorset to perform at the VOCES8 International Summer School and Festival at Milton Abbey, completing standout appearances at two of the UK’s leading vocal music festivals in a single day.
